Launch of the TeamUp! project to promote access to sports for persons with intellectual disabilities.

Project partners from Croatia, Spain, Greece and Romania, in representation of service providers, sports association and academia, gathered in Brussels on 21-22 January for the TeamUp! project kick-off meeting.
Co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme, the project aims to promote social inclusion and equal opportunities in sport by improving access to sport for people with disabilities in mainstream structures.
Over the course of the two-day kick-off meeting the partnership, coordinated by EASPD, started to outline the main features of project’s outputs:

  • a tool for community mapping at local level to facilitate legal frameworks for inclusion;
  • a joint training course for sports professionals;
  • the creation of a community of practice at national level to link persons with intellectual disabilities and persons without disability to team up.

 The project meeting was also an important occasion for project partners to set the basis for common agreements and commitments on each partners’ tasks, roles and activities.
