The Estonian Presidency of the Council of the European Union will be hosting a conference from the 12th of October to the 13th of October.
The conference will focus on advancing discussions to accelerate the transition from institution-based care to community-based support (Deinstitutionalisation = DI) in the EU member states. It aims to also propose new approaches in the development of the concept and financing of DI and the promotion of human rights, and to support the development of the EU-wide framework of participatory social welfare policies. There will be several key speakers such as Emmanuelle Grange, Head of Disability and Inclusion Unit at European Commission and Ain Aaviksoo, Deputy Secretary General at the Ministry of Social Affairs in Estonia.
The conference will be held at the Mektory Innovation Centre in Tallinn, Estonia.
