Juncker plan: A EUR 50 million deal to finance social enterprises in 7 countries


The European Investment Fund (EIF) and all seven Erste Group member banks, in Austria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, Slovakia and Serbia, have signed a Social Entrepreneurship guarantee agreement to provide finance for social organisations under the EU Programme for Employment and Social Innovation (EaSI).

Historical election at the UN Committee on Elimination of Discrimination against Women as Ana Peláez Narváez becomes the first woman with a disability to hold a seat on the Committee


Ana Peláez Narváez, Vice-President of the European Disability Forum, has been elected as a member of  the U.N. Committee on Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW). Ms Peláez Narváez’s election represents the first time in the Committee’s 37 year history that a woman with a disability has been elected member. The CEDAW is the body of independent experts that monitors implementation of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women. It consists of 23 independent experts on women’s rights across the world.

Videoflash Nº32 - Country-specific recommendations for Member States


The European Commission has released new country-specific recommendations (CSRs) for Member States, setting out its economic policy guidance for Member States for the next 12 to 18 months. This recommendations are a useful tool for EASPD members to push for the social inclusion of persons with disabilities in their own countries. To facilitate this task, EASPD has worked on a Summary Report, which highlights the areas which most affect EASPD members.
